Unique Vintage Delta Air Lines Suit Case Luggage Bag Pilot Stewardess Foldable

I have never seen another Delta Airlines case like this one, nor have I been able to find out it's history online.
It has the Delta Logo they began using in 1962 on both the front and back. The case measures 16" x 11" x 5 1/2", and zips closed at the top. The unique feature is that it folds up to a measurement of 16" x 6 1/2" x 1/12". When you need a case on the way out, but not on the way back or vice versa. Just fold it up and put it in your other luggage, it only weighs 2.5 pounds. I am not sure if this might have been for a pilot or flight attendant or just a traveler. It could be a carry on or checked. The material is a dark blue vinyl or leather, I am not sure but it is soft, not hard. There is no makers tag on the inside. The inside side panels on the smaller side fold inward and the bottom panel removes to be folded up. It has a hard plastic or bakelite? moving handle.
Condition looks amazing. There are no rips, tears, scratches, etc... that I can see. The handle is solid and firmly attached, no loose rivets. The metal hardware is clean and shiny, no rust or scratching. The zipper operates smoothly, no issues there. The two snaps that fold it closed are perfect. The inside is clean, no stains, marks, etc.. maybe a little dust from storage. No smoke or pet odors, in fact it smells like leather, this has been very well cared, maybe never even used.
This seems to be a one of a kind or very rare item and as such would make a great addition to your collection.
